Just Another Day in Space: Animated Music Video

ROLE: TEAM LEAD, ANIMATOR, MODELER & EDITOR

This classroom project challenged us to create a 90-second 3D animated video in just four days. Our team developed "Just Another Day in Space" - following Greg, a hilariously unlucky space commuter whose morning goes from bad to worse before culminating in a //spoiler alert// meteor crash, all synced to Milky Chance's Stolen Dance. Every aspect - from modeling the spaceship to timing the meteor strike with the music's drop - had to be ruthlessly optimized to meet our deadline.

Streamlining Production.

Parallelizing workflows—modeling environments while storyboarding, animating while rendering;

Designing for efficiency—low-poly assets, loop-able run cycles, and reused props;

Leveraging the song's rhythm to mask cuts and sync punchlines;

Daily team huddles to troubleshoot crises.

Against all odds, we delivered a 90-second animated short with a cohesive (if delightfully chaotic) story that became a class favorite—proving Greg's unlucky charm and our strong character design and humorous narrative could shine even without polished finishes. The project taught us two valuable lessons: constraints don't limit creativity, they fuel it, and in a sprint, team trust outweighs the pursuit of perfection every time.
